Over Journal Issue 5 - FUTURES

OVER Journal provides a uniquely wholesome look at art practices, bringing together the work and ideas of artists, researchers, and writers into a one-of-a-kind publication focused on Photography and Visual Culture. It navigates the reader from a text rich section with a variety of notable reflections, to a selection of photographic works, all representing the diversity of approaches that constitutes contemporary practices.

OVER Journal issue 5 presents a collaborative editorial project devised by four member organisations of FUTURES, the European Photography Platform, around the theme of Metamorphosis. For this special issue, OVER Journal invited 3 guest editors from the platform to tap into the FUTURES network as well as their own. Reflections around Metamorphosis set the scene and introduce a selection of portfolios of FUTURES Talents. The issue opens with articles that include those by Colin Graham and Joanna Zylinska, both reflecting on photography's adaptability and evolving condition, followed by the premiere of texts by two artists: a preview of a new work by Eamonn Doyle ahead of its launch in 2026 at the International Centre for the Image, and the presentation of a very personal reflection by Cristna De Middel around the experience of migration.
