Stefan Heyer was born in Essen and is a true child of the Ruhr region. After numerous positions in Germany and abroad, he has lived and worked in Hamburg since 2007. He came to art in the mid-1980s through music, which he primarily consumed through the design of record covers. In his motifs, he deals with the disruption and pace of the 21st century. In doing so, he always finds his very own, broken beauty. He responds to the collective unease of the age with collage-like images that show the ugly, unvarnished truth on the one hand and the positive, innocent aspects of his own nature on the other. In this way, he takes the horror out of contradictions and repeatedly creates harmonious visual worlds full of hidden messages.
