Timo von Eicken – maybe tomorrow
We live in undoubtedly unsettling times and everybody has their own way of coping. All systems seem outdated or to have reached their limits. In ostensible overdrive humankind races through time and slowly loses itself in the process. There is less and less room for reflection, empathy, and emotions. The world’s problems seem too big to be able to grasp, let alone change them, which is why they are often downplayed, denied, or disguised. Climate change, pandemics, plastic waste, unresolved conflict whichever direction one turns.
While half of the growing world population lives in sorrow, the other is set on worrying tomorrow.
Without wagging a finger or trying to be overly political, Timo von Eicken once again conveys his thoughts in his predominantly large-scale collages by telling intense stories full of contrast that apart from graphic elements highlight the type of qualities in people they usually seek to conceal. His unmistakable style has garnered him a reputation well beyond the city of Hamburg and is celebrated by collectors and art aficionados alike.
